Sun & Ski Sports is calling all cyclists! Whether you’re on a racing team, training for the 2010 BP MS150 or just learning how to ride a bike, Sun & Ski Sports invites to you to attend its annual “Bike U,” Customer Appreciation Weekend, January 22 from 6-10 p.m. and January 23 from 1-4 p.m. at Sun & Ski Sports, 6100 Westheimer.

“Bike U” will feature cycling-specific clinics designed in helping you prepare for training, eating right, riding with more skill, and aiding you to graduate to more challenging events. Hands-on clinics include road maintenance, safety, training, general maintenance, women’s specific, nutrition and MS150 preparation.

Along with the cycling-specific clinics, Sun & Ski Sports will provide free food and drinks, door-prizes will be given away throughout the night, and bike manufacture reps will be present to answer any questions you may have about their products.

“Whether you’re a longtime cyclist or brand new to the sport, Bike U provides the latest product information and safety, nutrition and maintenance clinics that help keep everyone safe on the road,” said Dale Mikulan, Sun & Ski Sports Merchandise Manager-Bikes, whose stores sell more bicycles in Houston than any other bike shop in the city.

Are you looking for tips on general bike maintenance? This clinic will equip you for minor derailleur adjustments, drive train lubrication and visual inspections that will have your bike riding easier and smoother.

Safety first is one of the main concerns of riding your bike. The safety clinic will frame your mind, help with road etiquette for fast or slow riders and will provide you with a 12-step program for group cycling.

Cycling is not only a sport for men but also a sport for women. At the women’s specific clinic, everyone will learn what clothing and equipment is needed for the female body, how to improve the cycling experience for women and how women should respond to sport’s risks.

Does your bike feel uncomfortable or painful when you ride? An improper bike fit can cause serious discomfort, which includes, back pains, burning feet, stabbing knee, sore hands, achy shoulders, and a stiff neck. Sun & Ski Sports will offer a free bike fit analysis to every attendee at “Bike U” with its CRM Body Scanning Laser Fit. This will provide you with maximum efficiency and comfort while riding your bike. Be sure to bring your bike!

As part of comfort and efficiency, Sun & Ski Sports will also provide the Look Keo Laser Cleat FIT System. This will properly analyze your pedal stroke along with optimizing your most efficient cleat position.

A full-service bike store, Sun & Ski Sports sponsors the third largest fundraising team in the MS Society Lone Star Chapter’s MS 150 and the Tour de Houston and is title sponsor of the Southern Elite Cycling Team (past seven years), Sun & Ski Sports Criterium Races and Sun & Ski Sports Tour de Donut. Known for its highly individualized approach to outfitting cycling experts as well as beginners, the store provides customers free customized bike fits and lifetime adjustments on all bike purchases.

Sun & Ski Sports, the “guide to the great outside,” outfits enthusiasts who ski, run, hike and bike around the world.
