What is Multiple Sclerosis?
Multiple Sclerosis, or MS, is a progressive neurological disease that affects nearly 2.3 million people worldwide. MS affects the body by causing the body’s natural immune response to attack the nervous system. This, in turn, damages the nervous system, which leads to signal interruption throughout the body. MS can cause a variety of symptoms, including vision problems, fatigue, tingling and numbness, and even paralysis. However, each case of MS is different, with varying degrees of severity. In some cases, people affected with MS experience it in waves with clearly defined attacks that produce some of the symptoms. After these attacks, the symptoms may go away completely, or become permanent.
